Measurement in residential buildings

Client
Residential enterprise
Project objective
Secondary measurement of individual buildings
Summary of the project

The project was focused on building a system of secondary electricity metering in individual buildings, with emphasis on intelligent data collection and their integration into a central monitoring system.

The technical solution consisted of the installation of electronic meters with Modbus RTU interface, which allow direct digital reading of measured values and their transmission to the master system. Measurement was carried out at 7 measuring points in three remote buildings, while 12 pieces of equipment (meters, fuses, data concentrators, converters and power supplies) were installed to ensure full functionality.

Implementation

The implementation was carried out in the form of modifications of the existing branch switchboards, into which new measuring devices with support for direct digital communication were integrated. The switchboards were equipped with LE-03MW type meters with Modbus RTU bus, while each measuring point was equipped with a separate fusing and protection to ensure operational reliability. For the stable operation of the communication system, 24 VDC power supplies and appropriate converters were added to enable efficient interconnection of individual devices with the bus.

After installation, the meters were configured, addressed and included in a common bus. Subsequently, a functional test and a communication test with the master system were performed to verify the correctness of the transmitted data. In total, 7 metering points were integrated into the system and 12 devices were installed to provide continuous secondary metering of electricity consumption in individual buildings.

From a technical point of view, the implementation was conducted in accordance with the requirements of STN 33 2000 and took into account not only the security aspects but also the future extensibility of the system. This has resulted in a comprehensive and scalable measurement system that is capable of providing accurate, online data and allows for further processing in higher-level monitoring and control platforms.

Results

Secondary metering was carried out at 7 metering points, where 12 devices (Modbus RTU meters, power supplies and converters) were installed and integrated into the existing switchgear without major modifications. All devices were connected to the Modbus RTU bus, configured, tested and verified for accuracy and reliability. The implementation was carried out in accordance with STN 33 2000, including fusing, cabling and revision. The result is a system providing accurate and centralised energy consumption data as a basis for efficient management and cost optimisation.
